Field campaign regarding new 1:100 000 scale geological mapping in NEG, co-finanzed by GEUS and the Greenlandic Ministry of Mineral Resources and Labour (MMRL) and the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Research (MIER)

The work aims at mapping Clavering Ø and Wollaston Forland (continued from 2018).  The work involves mapping sedimentary sequences, metamorphic units, magmatic intrusions and structural elements focusing also on important processes of mineral reactions related to the brittle regime in fault zones. The project thus bridges studies traditionally regarded as basement- or ore-related with more hydrocarbon-related studies to the benefit of both. The data background for the mapping campaign is high-resolution stereo-images acquired in 2017 and 2018 that will be supplemented during fieldwork in 2019. Sample collection and labelling follow GEUS standards.

Base camp at Daneborg (in agreement with Zackenberg Secretariat and AKO)
Full chartered helicopter (1 pilot)
22 participants incl. base camp staff
Scientific staff will be camping in the area in small teams.
